I was privvy to a conference call today where all of the following things were said by real people who actually exist (as far as I know)

"Do you have the logical model of the tracking mechanism for the detail on the portlet level?"
"Yes, we'll implement the extensible detail mechanism for the architectural physical model."

"We're tracking things like portlet. Not portlet activity, but did they click on that portlet."

"Are you guys looking at searches that yield results but aren't relevant? I'm just curious because I've run into that challenge in the past."

"Going to the next page we're talking about smart tagging, where you need to add a tag to any event that might be targeted. But we wanted it to be smart so that someone who is in the know and can look at this code and quickly decipher it's meaning. Therefore, every code will be 27 digits."

"In this example if something is N/A we decided to make it N/A by making it code 99."

"Brand is right there at position 15 so it's easy to pull out."

"Speaking of VML. I have a quick comment. Synonymous to VML is MIS. So in this triage process we want to see if someone goes to MIS if they went to VML first. I just wanted to make you aware of it in case it has an impact later."
"So would that would be considered in VML?"
"They're very closely related, but I don't know what impact it has on this model."

"Is it out of the portal or in this platform?"

"Should we make the bucket MIS instead of VML?"
"No, we'll make it DoD/MIS/VML. But you might want to add MIS into the VML bucket there for the content well."
"
As I said, VML is TBD"

I'm after the same answers you are.

"Just for clarification sake if I'm performing a search action in a portlet, would my code be whatever the category was, then NA NA NA NA content?"
Exactly.

No, brand we called BNA, subcontent we couldn't call SNA.
No brand BNA99? or just NA99?
Correct.

Am I under a misconception - I thought they were forced to watch that video?
No, there's a skip button.
So we'll be able to track how much of the video was watched?
Yes, we will broadcast a beacon.
Where do we broadcast the beacon to?
I'll follow up on how to broadcast those beacons.

I'm looking at a code for logged in versus not logged in for content group 1.
Line 71, content group 3, 001 for trend feed overall, and TF001 and TL001

We have trend default, trendfeeds, logged in or not logged in.
In this case it's a different artifact being displayed by different portlets.

I'm pretty sure if I was on this call, I'd slowly be laughing myself to death in the background. I heart bureaucracy, until I realize I'm the poor sap who has to turn it all into CODE. :-.

Holy crap. It's stuff like this that forced creation of the Dilbert comics.

UGH I have encountered this "idea" more times than I want to count...

The 27 digit comment was my personal favorite.

But you know Morgan was on mute laughing his head off.
